   It's really trivial now.  I have the inside line and I'm not going to give it up.  The potential obstacles are Cornelia, Riza, Malserrin, and Vincent.  My assets are myself, Nicholas, Michael, and Lysandra.  Neutral will be Nityana. 
   
   Step 1 is to convince Nicholas that I, not he, will be the monarch.  He can be my general and I'll give him the 'regency' that is much desired.  He's already lost this one but doesn't know it.

   Shadow is a funny thing. People get all freaked out over something meaningless. Meaningless to me anyway. I suppose it matters to them. If I'm not afraid to say the evil wizard's name why should someone worry? It's not like I couldn't take him. He IS after all a creature of shadow.

   Dad gave me a book about some place in shadow. It beats hanging around here so I'm going to check it out. Finding ways to remain perky with this lot isn't easy. I could use a break. Besides, the badguy in here sounds fun. And the hero sounds like the old legends of Amber.

   Dinner with the family has been such a bore lately. I was thinking of taking a jaunt out into shadow just to get some excitement. Besides, after the 'new spell' thing I need some time away. Especially with all of the brothers coming home lately. They go away for years at a time and have the awful timing to all show up at the same time. I hope nobody's up to something because of it. Even so, I'd rather not see it.
